As we all are growing up we pass through different stages in our life..different phases..different people..different places. As we are passing by, we pick up different things along the way..things that we will remember forever..carry on with us forever..and things we may wear and show for the rest of our lives.
Those things are not necessarily materialistic...nor are they obvious........at first.
Im talking about things that are expressed through your behavior..actions..reactions..the way you talk..walk.....call it whatever. Call it something..call it your own name because what you show is what you are...to people at least because not everybody can see your heart. God can though..
As Jesus said when the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Him,
"Why dont your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands?"
He replied:
"Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:"
" 'These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules are taught by men. (Mark 7:5-7)
"Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean' (Mark 7:14-16)
Loving God with your heart and not your MOUTH is what this means...Words are only words..can you show me something else?
However Jesus went a little bit further and said that nothing outside coming in can make you unclean. Which tells us, when your in a place where immoral things are going on such as drugs..drunkenness..adultery..greed malice..deceit..envy..arrogance....etc etc..
It doesn't mean that YOU are unclean but only when that same behavior comes out of you..then you are..
Now going back to the top.
As we are growing up and going to places we pick up different things along the way that may have influence on who we really are,and what we really need to be.
Everybody that I know in my life gets sidetracked (Including me). Only a few of those get back on the right path..because they dont steer to far from it..
Some steer a little bit more and more and more....and a little bit more......and the next thing you know your standing in the middle of a dessert with no roads to point you anywhere....and your lost.
As you live your life as a "Seed" you have to be careful what "Soil" you chose to plant yourself in.
Jesus tells us:
"Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which he grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, great and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times." (Mark 4: 3-8)
You can either be a Seed or the Soil...actually you can be both...
Soil could be your friends..when they are not helping you grow..then that is bad Soil. But when you are GOOD Soil you will plant them into your life and bring them up..If your not bringing them up..Then you don't have Good Soil..and you wont help them grow..Then you are a Seed and you are in need of the Good Soil..
Think about what you are..Think about what your friends are to you..
God determines who walks into your life....YOU decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go...You make that choice based on the laws He gave us..If it hurts your relationship with Him..Let them go..You wont grow..
They are not good for you.
Please do NOT take this as "Don't ever talk to them" but some people are just better loved from a distance. Surround yourself with people that will help you grow.
Drop the dead weight and don't make them a priority if your only an option to them.
Your priority is God..then everything else.
